When you “get lost” in Bernadett Istók’s Garden of Eden, some sort of an ancient and deep emotion overcomes you, while you are captivated by what you see. The particular images created by this painter from Szentendre are difficult to identify: they are not abstract, yet they are; they are not realistic, yet they are; and they are neither still lifes, nor traditional landscapes… Her sacral garden is quiet and peaceful: it is the garden of a balance and harmony revisited and retained. Ms. Istók loves to spend her time in Debrecen’s arboretum. “The trees towering over me keep me amazed… while I feel the humps of the ground underneath my bare feet. I feel free because I can hide from the noise of the city here…” Her paintings have been exhibited in Budapest and in a number of other locations in Hungary, she has successfully participated in Corvinus Kertészeti Egyetem Nemzetközi Orchideakiállítása [International Orchid Show of Corvinus University of Budapest], and she is also regularly invited to take part in horticultural exhibitions held in a variety of castles in Italy.
